Hello, This is Wooyeong, Zacker and Zheng taking ESL300 course at UCLA.
In this video, we would like to introduce how to use the graduate writing center at our campus.
A number of international students basically write a lot of articles and papers related to their major and research.
However, most of them don't know how to do their writing effectively since they are not familiar with writing with
English as a Second Language.
That's why the Graduate Writing Center (GWC) is here at UCLA, which provides UCLA students or faculties with many
resources to revise their work and get some feedback on that.
In this article, you can find three big takeaways including how to make an appointment at GWC as a starter, what kinds of articles are available to be reviewed there and various available resources in GWC.
i) How to make an appointment
1. Register your account on Handshake
2. Click the Career Center which is in the right top corner at the homepage. Then, click appointments.
3. Click the blue box that is written as the Schedule A New Appointment.
4. Go to the Graduate Writing Appointments.
5. Choose the block in the time table and schedule the appointment when you're available.
* Good tips !
1) When you feel you need to get some feedbacks through the GWC, it would be better to make an appointment in advance (at least before a week).
2) There are a lot of consultants from various majors such as from Engineering to Literatures.
it would be more valuable time when you match your consultant who has similar interest or majors with yours.
6. Put your personal information that they need to know where they are able to give you the feedback in detail.
Additionally, you can choose the meeting type like Zoom or Skype. Choose more convenient one you feel.
That's all you need when you make an appointment at GWC. Next, we'll describe what kinds of resources are able to be dealt with in GWC.
